Course Description:
The US Department of Transportation (DOT) has established the Materials of Trade exception for when hazardous materials are present on motor vehicles to support health and safety, maintenance of the vehicle, or business operations. The MOT exception, defined in 49 CFR 171.8, reduces the regulatory burden because smaller quantities of hazardous materials represent a lower risk and may be offered and transported under less stringent requirements. In this course, you'll learn about the Materials of Trade exception, what can be transported under this exception, and how to safely transport it. This course was developed with subject matter support provided by EnSafe Inc., a global professional services company focusing on engineering, environment, health and safety, and information technology. Please note, the course materials and content were current with the laws and regulations at the time of the last expert review, however, they may not reflect the most current legal developments. Nothing herein, or in the course materials, shall be construed as professional advice as to any particular situation with respect to compliance with legal statutes or requirements.
